EASY WAYS YOU CAN JOIN IN
Everyone
can do something to help the campaign to get the EU referendum
we have been repeatedly promised.
There's
strength in numbers and the Democracy Movement's campaigns are so
effective because we have a wide network of support and there are
many small ways to get involved. If we all work together, however
small the things we each do, collectively they can make a huge difference.
Please
join in! Below are some ideas for what you can do depending how
much time you have available.

Register
your support.
It's free to register your support for campaign and get more involved
if you choose. The more supporters we have, the more MPs and the government
will have to listen to our case. We are registered with the Information
Commissioner for data protection and don't pass the personal details
of our supporters to anyone else. There's no further commitment to
giving time or money. You will receive occasional updates about our
campaign by post and email. You can register by clicking
here.
Sign
up others who agree with you.
Encourage your friends, neighbours, relatives and workmates to register
as supporters of the Democracy Movement as well - anyone who agrees
with you about the importance of our campaigns.
Get
involved in a local DM group.
DM branches organise a range of local activities, from letter-writing
campaigns and public meetings to leaflet distribution and info stalls
in shopping centres. Volunteers are always needed to take part in
or even help arrange these activities. Find out if there is a branch
near you by clicking
here.
Help
us to set up a local group.
If there is no organised campaign in your area, help us to start one!
Having local groups active in every community across the country will
be the key to applying sufficient pressure for change on political
decision-makers. To find out more, contact us by clicking
here.
Make
a donation.
The DM has no wealthy MEP or business backers and, unlike our opponents,
we are not funded by the taxpayer. Our campaigns depend entirely on
the voluntary donations of thousands of supporters - people like you.
We have a huge task. Please consider making a donation to our campaign
fund. If you can't be active yourself, please help us to support those
who can. To find out more, click
here.
Distribute
leaflets. Help
us to let people know the economic and democratic reality of Britain's
relationship with the EU, and focus pressure for a referendum on decision-makers,
by distributing our free leaflets door-to-door in your area. Click
here to view our range of free
campaign materials and order any quantity from a few to pass around
your contacts to hundreds to put through local letterboxes.
Write
to your MP.
Whether your MP is for or against a referendum or passing more powers
to the EU, it's vital they get feedback from their constituents for
their view. In the first instance, please write to them at the House
of Commons, London SW1A 0AA expressing your opposition to centralised,
undemocratic EU law-making and asking what their view is on the issue.
To find out who your MP is click here
and enter your postcode. Please send us a copy of any response you
receive for our file of where MPs stand on the issue - our address
is at the bottom of this page.
Write
to your local newspaper.
Most local and regional newspapers have Letters pages and are very
keen to hear the views of local people, not just on local issues.
Surveys show that the local media is one of the most trusted sources
of information, and that the Letters page is often the most widely
read section of the paper. Just a brief letter on the issue can take
a short time to write yet, if published, can reach tens of thousands
of people in one go.
You don't even have to create letters yourself. Register with us as
a letter-writer for your local paper and we'll send you occasional
sample letters to copy and forward to the paper. This will help spread
our arguments and generate support, but take you very little time.
Click here to register and tick the
appropriate box at the bottom of the page.
